Assisi Arches

22x28” Oil on Canvas
$945
Sold

I had a great weekend at the Three River’s Art Festival! Thanks to all those who stopped by to see me! The weather was perfect and it was a pleasure meeting so many new people. My favorite was swapping traveling stories with some first generation Italians and passing the time with people watching. I hope to find another show to get into in the next couple of months.

This painting was very popular. I did a small 5x7” study over a year ago and always wanted to do a larger painting of it. I made it into an 11x14” print on fine art watercolor paper, as well as a 22x28” print on canvas (both limited editions.)

Enjoy!

Sold

Iris III
4 ½ x 6 ½” Oil on Board
$145 Framed

I have the privilege of living next to someone who has a love for flowers. My husband and I enjoy our neighbor’s landscaping year round. Not a “cookie cutter” look, Beth’s garden is full of perennials and annuals that grace every little nook and cranny. Where you won’t find dirt for planting, you’ll see a hanging basket overflowing with color. Every year I tell Beth I want to paint her Irises, and I finally got to it this time around!

See the framing job for the show below. Although the lighting in these photographs is terrible, you get the general feel for the look. The mat colors are the same in all three pieces.

Autumn Field

24x36” Oil on Canvas
$1295 (framed)
Sold

This landscape is the largest piece I have for the Three Rivers Art Festival this year. I had fun working out the warms and cools, the complimentary colors of orange and blue that seem to “dance” around the canvas. The frame I chose is rustic and antiqued. I made this into a limited edition giclee print, both on fine art watercolor paper and on stretched canvas. My next goal is to get my prints page up on the website!

View from Assisi

11x14” Oil on Canvas

SOLD

"He who works with his hands is a laborer.
He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist."

St. Francis of Assisi

One of my favorite places I visited while in Europe was Assisi, Italy. No matter how many times I try to capture it on canvas I’m always left hungry for more, which is why I have a few more from Assisi to show you in the coming days.

Old Bottle and Pears

My husband often hunts along old strip mines in the countryside of Ohio. He keeps his eyes open for still life objects for me. He found this old bottle which makes a perfect addition to this composition.

Evening in Venice

7x10 ½” Oil on Board
SOLD

“A realist, in Venice, would become a romantic by mere faithfulness to what he saw before him.” Arthur Symons

Here’s a painting for my show next week. Yes, we’ve all seen dozens of paintings of Venice. Cliché? Maybe… But I paint what is beautiful, what inspires me. I like the complexity of Venice, its brilliance and griminess, its history and possible fate. Painting Venice is worth the risk.
